Town Council

Second and fourth Tuesday of the Month @ 7:00 PM

The Herndon Town Council consists of the Mayor and six council members. The seven-member Town Council establishes Town government policy, acts on local resolutions and ordinances, sets tax rates, approves the annual Town budget, appoint members to the town’s boards, and provides policy guidance for the Town Manager.

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission consists of seven Town Council-appointed Town residents, which is responsible for making critical planning and zoning recommendations to the Town Council.

Historic District Review Board & Architectural Review Board

Third Wednesday of the Month @ 7:00 PM

The HDRB, which consist of five ARB members in addition to two other members, is responsible for the review of applications for Certificates of Appropriateness for new construction, alteration, and renovation projects within the Heritage Preservation overlay districts.  The ARB, mostly comprised of Town residents appointed by the Town Council, reviews the design of non-residential new construction and building alterations town-wide.

Board of Zoning Appeals

Please check Town of Herndon website to confirm meeting as the BZA does not meet if there are no applications. The BZA is comprised of five Town Council-appointed Town residents. The BZA hears appeals of Zoning Administrator Determinations and Variances.
